Julio Pineda is actually Chief Economist for BBVA Research in Venezuela.
Previously, Julio Pineda was Director of the Research Department at the Central Bank of Venezuela, Deputy Director of the Monetary Programing and Macroeconomic Analysis Department at the Central Bank of Venezuela, Senior Advisor of the Executive Director for Spain, Mexico, Venezuela and Central America at the International Monetary Fund, Associate Economist at the Anti-Monopoly Office, and Economic Consultant in various firms.
He has been Professor of International Trade, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, and Introduction to Economics at the UCV, UCAB and UNIMET universities in Caracas.
He obtained the Degree in Economics at Universidad Central de Venezuela in 1993 and a MsC in Public Management at the IESA. He has published several papers focused in international finance issues in specialized journals, and was coeditor of the book “Temas de Política Cambiaria en Venezuela” in 2004.
