Asturias Economic Outlook 2016

By

The economy of Asturias will grow about 2.8% in 2016, but will slow to a 2.2% in 2017, creating around 10,000 new jobs during this two-year period. Internal demand drives the recovery, supported by tourism, driven by domestic visitors. Creating more and better employment continues to be the challenge.

Asturias Economic Outlook 2015

By

The Asturian economy's recovery has picked up and remains dynamic, despite certain areas of uncertainty. The BBVA Research scenario forecasts growth of 2.6% in 2015 and 2.1% for 2016, with potential for 14,000 jobs to be created over both years together. The improvement in the EMU, the euro exchange rate and the oil price are sustaining competitiveness.

Asturias Outlook 2014

By

Asturias is consolidating the recovery that was starting to appear in the second half of 2013. Improved fundamentals on the part of its main commercial partners will feed exports and tourism, while the progressive correction of internal imbalances – which are lower than in Spain as a whole – will reduce the negative contribution of domestic demand. However, there are still challenges ahead to ensure a level of growth in productivity and GDP per capita that narrows the gap between this region and Spain and the rest of Europe.
