BBVA Research - Principal Economist

Noelia Cámara is Principal Economist in the Digital Economy unit at BBVA Research. Her research interests include Big Data techniques, applied economics and sectorial transformation of the economic activity. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Zaragoza (2010). Also, she holds a Masters in Data Science (Big Data, 2017).

Before joining BBVA Research in 2013, Noelia worked, since 2010, as an Assistant Professor at the Economics department of the University Carlos III of Madrid. She was a visiting Ph.D. student at the University of Nottingham and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Vienna.

She has published several papers in international peer-reviewed journals and books, and has attended numerous conferences. In addition, she has undertaken various research engagements with the International Monetary Fund. She is a member of the Research Committee at the Center of Financial Education and Capability at BBVA.
