Marcos Laserna Moratalla joined BBVA Research in September 2026 as an economist in the Economic analysis with Big Data & AI team.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Universidad Complutense de Madrid and completed an academic exchange at the University of Florida. His academic background includes postgraduate studies in Banking and Quantitative Finance at Universitat de València and in Artificial Intelligence Research at Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo. He was awarded a bronze medal in the Spanish Mathematical Olympiad.

He has experience in data science and artificial intelligence at Oliver Wyman, Naturgy and Prensa Ibérica. He has also contributed to research on financial bubbles at Universitat de València.
