The Big Data Consumption Indicator showed a year-on-year expansion of 13.2 % in March, recording a slowdown compared to 18.7 % in February due to the lower momentum of pension fund withdrawals and price increases.

The Big Data Private Consumption Index maintained strong growth; in January 2026 it increased by 18.3% YoY (19.3% in December and 16.7% in November).

The Big Data Private Consumption Index recorded a YoY increase of 7,2% in August, reflecting a significant acceleration compared to the more moderate growth observed in the previous two months (2.3% y/y in July and 3.0% y/y in June).

In January, the Consumer Big Data index accelerated its growth (+4.6% YoY; December 2023: +2.6% YoY). Over the same period, the Big Data Investment index showed significant growth (+26.6% YoY; December 2023: +4.2% YoY).

In December, spending with cards and cash withdrawals (BBVA Research's big data consumer index) increased 7.0% compared to the same month in 2019 (10.9% compared to December 2020).

In August, the BBVA consumption indicator grew 25% in real terms with respect to the same month of 2019. The increase in household spending coincides with the increase in household liquidity, relaxation of sanitary isolation measures and further progress in the vaccination process.

BBVA Research has developed a high-frequency indicator to track consumption in different countries. In Peru, this indicator shows that, after an initial significant contraction in household's purchases when confinement began, a recovery in spending is already visible with information as of July
