After correcting for each month's stationary variations, retail sales turnover recovered to a monthly 1,7% in June, which was more than expected. In the whole second quarter, the rise in sales stabilized at around 0,9%QoQ which anticipates a similar private consumption dynamism to that observed in the first quarter.
Once corrected for the stationary variations of each month, retail sales turnoever was reduced by a monthly 0,9% in May. The rise in fuel and home equipment sales was enough to compensate the decline in the consumption of food and personal equipment goods.
Retail sales rose in December, although less than expected because of the disappointing development of service station and durable goods' sales. In all 4Q15, sales growth in the sector fell by three decimal points, which points at a lower dynamism in private consumption.
Retail trade turnover fell in November less than expected after adjusting for calendar and seasonal effects. Purchases of household equipment and other goods rose last month, but not enough to offset the decline of other products' sales.
