Marco Antonio joined BBVA Research as an Economist in March 2026, and has been a member of the Spain and Portugal team ever since.
He holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Universidad del Pacífico (Peru) and a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Finance from the University of London, under the academic direction of the London School of Economics (United Kingdom). He also holds a Master's degree in Economics from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (Spain), where his master's thesis focused on the impact of expectations on bank credit growth in Latin America.
He has over four years of experience in applied economics, financial analysis, and the public sector. Prior to joining BBVA, he worked as a Research Assistant in the Stress Testing Unit at the Banco de España. Previously, he served as an Economic and Trade Affairs Analyst at the European Union Office in Peru and worked in applied economic research within the BBVA Research team in Peru.
His main areas of interest include macroeconomics, financial markets, credit and sovereign risk analysis, international economics, and data analysis.
