Key points
- Key points:
- The indicator's performance occurred in a context where the labor market continues to show solid dynamics, characterized by increased formal job creation in the private sector, a reduction in underemployment, and wage growth. In addition, low inflation (1.7% in May) helped support households' purchasing power.
- By spending components, May saw an acceleration in the yoy growth of expenditures on Entertainment, Health, and Household Goods. On the other hand, spending on Fashion and Beauty, as well as Residential Public Services, showed a slowdown in their expansion. It is worth noting that expenditures on Food and Tourism maintained a solid growth pace.
- The Big Data Consumption Index accelerated to 13.7% in the April–May period (up from 8.7% in Q1 2025), suggesting that private consumption will continue to show strong momentum in the second quarter of the year.
