Peru | Tracking consumption with real-time data in October 2025

Summary

The Big Data Index of Private Consumption continues to show notable dynamism at the beginning of the fourth quarter: in October, it increased by 7.7% YoY.

Key points

  • Key points:
  • Although the expansion in October was lower than in September (10.5%), the year-on-year comparison base was high: October of previous year was the last month in which pension fund withdrawals took place in 2024.
  • Consumer spending continues to be supported by the favorable phase of the economic cycle. On the labor market side, job creation stands out, particularly formal and high-quality employment, along with improved incomes, resulting in the expansion of the wage bill. Likewise, the stable price environment helps preserve households’ purchasing power. Finally, consumer spending is also bolstered by the sustained improvement in consumer confidence and the acceleration of consumer credit.
  • By component, in October, the sharpest improvements in year-on-year growth were observed in Food (mainly restaurant spending), Tourism, Household Goods, Health, Transportation, Fashion and Beauty, and Department Stores.
