Peru | Tracking consumption with real-time data in January 2026

Summary

The Big Data Private Consumption Index maintained strong growth; in January 2026 it increased by 18.3% YoY (19.3% in December and 16.7% in November).

Key points

  • Key points:
  • The expansion took place in a context of increased household liquidity, driven by extraordinary withdrawals from pension funds (which began on November 21, 2025).
  • Household spending has also been supported by the acceleration of consumer credit, the continued strong performance of the labor market, and improvements in income. In addition, a low-inflation environment has helped preserve households’ purchasing power, thereby further reinforcing support for consumption.
  • All components of the Big Data Private Consumption Indicator recorded positive year-on-year variations. In this context, the sectors with the most pronounced improvements included Household Goods, Department Stores, and Fashion and Beauty.
