Mexico | Positive signals for manufacturing in June

The BBVA Research Manufacturing Indicator grew 5.5% in June, driven by the automotive sector. A gradual improvement is expected, especially in sectors linked to AI value chains in the U.S.

  • The BBVA Research Multidimensional Manufacturing Indicator averaged a year-on-year variation of 2.8% in the first half of the year, 4.8 percentage points above the same period in 2025.
  • Fifteen of the twenty-one activity subsectors reported production levels below their January 2025 level. Notably, the manufacture of petroleum products was 18.1% above that level.
  • In May, the manufacture of computer and communication equipment recorded the highest level of utilized capacity (95.6%), in contrast to the manufacture of leather products, which had the lowest (57.8%).
  • Looking ahead, we expect a gradual improvement in sectors associated with AI value chains in the U.S., alongside more moderate growth in traditional manufacturing segments.
