This analysis calculates the proximity (in km) of economic units in Mexico to commercial banking units (branches, ATMs, etc.), using georeferenced information as an indicator of "access" to financial products and services for the financial inclusion of establishments and businesses.

• Out of 6.5 million economic units (establishments and businesses), eight out of ten (81.9%) are located within 2 kilometers of a commercial banking unit (such as a branch, ATM, corporate office, or other access point). This proportion increases to 91.9% within a 4 km radius and to 94.8% within 7 km.
• There are 1,176,019 economic units located more than 2 kilometers away from a commercial banking unit, while 339,149 are more than 7 kilometers away
• A positive correlation is observed between the size of the economic unit and its proximity to commercial banking units. While 81.3% of micro economic units are located within 2 km of an access point (commercial banking unit), this proportion increases to 91.8% for small units, 94.2% for medium-sized units, and 96.4% for large units."
• There are 1,147,795 micro economic units located more than 2 kilometers away from a commercial banking unit; this is also the case for 24,121 small, 1,360 medium-sized, and 513 large units.
• Proximity varies significantly across sectors. Activities such as construction (96.9% within 2 km), corporate offices (97.4%), professional services (97.0%), and large companies (96.4%) show the highest levels of proximity to commercial banking units. In contrast, sectors such as agriculture (27.9% within 2 km), mining (37.5%), and other services (62.9%) show lower levels of proximity at short distances (2 km), which could initially be associated with the use of large tracts of land.
