Peru Economic Outlook. Third quarter 2022

Considering the more favorable trend of private spending and households’ early access to private pension funds, output growth forecast for 2022 has been raised to 2,3%, while that for 2023 remains at 2,8% given that the deterioration of the external environment is expected to be offset by the recovery of mining production.

Peru | Inflation surprises to the upside and reaches 24-year maximum

The Consumer Price Index for the city of Lima increased 0.96% MoM in April. This is a result of the increase in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages and transportation, in a context of higher international prices of foodstuffs and fuels.

Peru | BCRP continues hiking the policy rate given a more challenging inflation scenario

The Board of the Central Bank decided to increase the monetary policy rate from 4.00% to 4.50% in April. The Bank now expects inflation to return to the target range between the second and third quarter of next year.
