Mexico | Traditional deposits deepens its weakness

During the 1Q19, the fall in economic activity had a significant influence on traditional deposits, whose nominal annual growth of 7.8% (3.5% real) is the lowest since the end of 2013. This behavior is supported, mainly, in the stagnation of demand deposits, which predominated over the dynamism of time deposits.

Key points

  • Key points:
  • The low dynamism of demand deposits is consolidated.
  • Time deposits maintain double-digit growth in the first quarter.
  • Traditional deposits in foreign currency rise in March, but do not prevent a slowdown during the first quarter.
  • Debt Investment Funds with their lowest quarterly growth since 2017.
  • Net Internal Financial Assets with slight recovery.
