Peru | Tracking consumption with real-time data in September 2026

Peru's Big Data Private Consumption Index grew 9.3% year-on-year in September, above the historical average. This progress occurs in a context of high inflation (4.5%) that affects purchasing power; however, consumer credit and labor market are providing support.

Key points

  • Key points:
  • The growth of the Big Data Consumption Index remained stable in 3Q26 (9.5% year-on-year), following the moderation observed in the second quarter due to the loss of momentum from pension fund withdrawals.
  • The moderation in consumption growth in September was reflected in almost all components, with the exception of Tourism and Fashion and Beauty, which registered a greater expansion than in the previous month.
  • Consumer credit remains a key support, growing at double-digit rates and reaching 15.9% year-on-year in the latest available data for September.
  • The digitalization of spending is advancing: the share of card purchases in total spending reached 77% in September 2026, and the online channel's share of total card purchases reached 76%.
